The Stardust opened in 1958 when “the skim” could cost a limb (or your knees), but is now but a page in history (or on your “Casino” DVD). Imploded in the middle of the night on Tuesday, onlookers stood by to say goodbye to this famous landmark.

    awww…a little nostalgic..during my first trip to Vegas years ago, friends and I hung out at the Stardust and I ended up walking away with $1500 after a game of craps (total luck as I had no clue what I was doing)…we were staying at the Westward Ho which no longer exists either.

    Yes, those can be some of the best memories. My favorite early crap years were at Casino Royale (with cheese). Dollar craps, hundred times odds and a disco DJ.

    Funny, my last memory of the Stardust was getting my ass handed to me at blackjack with my girlfriend at the time sitting on my right and playing terribly, thereby screwing up my cards. but i swear i am not bitter.

    The dealer had a six showing! I was doubling down (for like $200) on my 11. It was very hard to feel bad for you when you hit your 12 and the face card you got caused you to lose your $5 bet. Grrr.

    Do I need to mediate? No, probably not seeing as how Jen is much more mature. Besides, Mason Malmuth says Jen hit shouldn’t affect anyone else at the table.

    What a dilemma!! I was going to say something about the Stardust and how Aunt Sue is practically crying over it but I walked into the comedy team of Jen and Dan.

    Anyway, when we’re done talking about blackjack (really, Dan, you should play with my friend Chuck. Then you could BOTH talk more about what the other players are doing instead of your own play), I’ll tell you some of MY Stardust memories.
