Ed
Thanks for correcting us ladies, Dan confused us with the headline. And just so you know...Barbies is Barbies.

Ed, we actually do have the zoom-in capability (replace width="" with xenlarge="") ... but Karridy is right, that doesn't change the file size. in fact it just adds another query.

believe it or not, i do know how to optimize (or at least shrink) photos. But I decided this post was worth about five minutes of cutting and pasting URLs, not much more. Some posts are tougher than others ... goes both ways. My apologies to the readers for not putting in the extra effort on their browsing behalf.

Yes...the way it is now...is bad. Was wondering if there was something installed that would deal with images put in a blog posting. by "deal" i mean use backend code to make a smaller version that we see in the entry and then keep the big version aside so it only loads that one when the image is clicked on.

been to some gallery type sites where they had 20 pics on one page that were the original 1M+ images shrunk to size using html. my response usually is "got photoshop?"

EDIT: just did a right click on an image and did View Image. there IS something being done with the images...I think a few tweaks to it should help out. (i.e. make them a tad smaller in size) but doing that may not help either if the backend code is pulling the full sized image first and then making the changes.

That just changes appearance (zoom). Doesn't do much for the 385k size or load time of the last image alone. Unless it optimizes natively.

What he needs is some Wordpress plugin that takes the image...makes a smaller "thumbnail" version for people to click if they wish to see a bigger version.

Is there one out there Dan? Do you have it installed but refuse to use it?

Ed,... Do you want to teach Dan how to reduce filesize and optimize images for the web, or should I. Regardless of who, the other should explain how doing such can dramatically increase server performance and global user experience.

Hmmm . . . are you sure it's not Legi? Just kidding.

That whole Little Vegas thing is amazing. For some reason the MGM Grand cracks me up. It looks so real!

Lego Jen. Lego rock. Even plural it is still Lego. I think if we wanted to get technical it is LEGO but that is just being anal.

Got too many of the things around the house and we don't even have kids yet. We went through a phase and had to buy all the cool sets...build them...and display them.
