I'm not even suggesting the PPA should disclose the breakdown of its membership, and indeed, 1 million members is an important political benchmark ... just trying to stay realistic in understanding that the PPA probably doesn't have a $50 million war chest. But that probably doesn't make much of a difference to members of Congress who see an organization over 1 million strong. It gives the lobbying organization credence, bottom line. D'Amato clearly is just cashing a check to say some warm-and-fuzzies, but if he was the best we had at the time, you gotta go with him, right? My personal view is that the PPA is the dominant organization working for poker players on Capitol Hill right now, and they have the member-power and know-how to get things done. Despite some of their past missteps and D'Amato's endorsement of McCain, I still believe that the PPA is our best representative in D.C. Everyone needs to look at both sides of the argument and decide for themselves. Yes, Ed, this is the same PPA.

My personal view is that the PPA is the dominant organization working for poker players on Capitol Hill right now, and they have the member-power and know-how to get things done. Despite some of their past missteps and D’Amato’s endorsement of McCain, I still believe that the PPA is our best representative in D.C.
