BTW, from a tourney perspective, how is this NOT Hellmuth’s to win? The only known threat is Hasan Habib — who is short-stacked and out of position. Maybe Andy Seth has a chance because he has an onliney nckname.

It was discussed on The Poker Beat (great debut by their B-Team btw) that the Aruba event lost money for UB. They made the event a loss leader, in the hopes of getting the players to recruit their friends to play on the site. Hellmuth also gave an interview with Matt Savage with his reasoning why the Aruba Classic was canceled this year:

Could it be because Pokerstars and Full Tilt players are not able to go? Probably not, but this was great marketing for UB having the Aruba Classic.

There’s all kinds of “What if’s” and I have a few of my own that I will keep to myself right now.

If this story becomes a topic maybe I’ll throw my guesses out there. Dan hope you hear more on this, it’s a interesting story to me.

The Hendon Mob obviously has a sense of humor considering they picked the GAYEST photo of Phil Hellmuth profile picture from like 10-15 years ago! Haha.
