Re: the emu of pokery web domains

Speaking of URL acquisitions … Frederico Schiavo, former Binion’s web guy, continues his legal fight against Harrah’s, which is suing for control of the WSOP.com domain he currently owns and operates. (Scroll down to read Schiavo’s evidence/manifesto.)

This should be an interesting case moving forward, as Harrah’s clearly has a financial interest in the domain, which may or may not be related to a gambling behemoth’s interest in a legal online gaming future. I haven’t looked into the hard details of each side’s claim, but as is the case with so many real-world eminent domain disputes, it comes down to determining fair-market-value and who has the rights to desirable “real estate”. I mean shit, if WSOP.com were an oil field, you could expect an outright war over it! And if it were ever to become an online poker room, it would be kinda like an oil field in terms of its ability to “grow” money.

Let me know if you need some comments from Federico, he and I may be working on a future online project together, he’s out of NY, but can get him on the phone.
