This is a special day for the Michalski clan (seen above).

Da Bears and all:

We’ve had a family fantasy pick-em league going all year, and coming down to the last game, Uncle Ray is ahead of me and cousin-in-law Philip by one point.

Here’s a Chicago Bears 2006/07 season highlight real (in lo-def!) for the family archives.

And here is Cousin Matt’s car, pretty much telegraphing his pick for today’s game:

We were obviously all devastated by the outcome, but all in all it was a good year. If you’d listen to Chicago sports radio, you would swear (appropriate word choice) that they were lucky to even make the playoffs and that the team needs a major overhaul.

Clearly the better team won yesterday, and certainly the better prepared team won, but I still believe in my Bears. Playing in the Super Bowl is a lot better than the alternative suffered by 30 other teams.

Well said, Uncle Ray. But Cousin Phil is still not invited to Thanksgiving, right?

(And congrats on another nice run to the end in Family Football Pick’em!)

Phillip did what he had to do to win. And had he NOT done it (pick the Colts) YOU would have won. So Phil is still welcome. There is always room for an intelligent player…In ANY game…sports betting, pools, horse racing… and of course, poker.
