High Stakes Poker: Any Questions?
by Dan Michalski, Dec 20, 2008 | 3:00 pm
I’m on the set of High Stakes Poker, Season 5, blogging live … only thing is I promised not to do any “live blogging”. Holy smokes, worst beat ever! How could he call with Ace-5? Someone ship Doyle Brunson another mil!
So while I mill around the Golden Nugget over the next day and a half, I’m wondering … any weekend readers out there have anything specific they’d like me to try and find out? I’m making no promises that the answers will be accurate or true, of course … but regardless, I’m happy to consider asking.

If you see Phil Hellmuth, ask him about this:

(Phil won a hand this morning with the worst hand — at showdown). I’ll be making a post about this shortly

Is Tom Dwan teh gheigh?
Or would he hit it with a married middle-aged housewife?
Enquiring minds want to know.

Actually Phil Hellmuth isn’t here … and apparently he backed out of playing tomorrow.

Ask them if they have knowledge of Bush trying to push through last minute legislation affecting online poker.

Is Henry Orenstein there? He didn’t make it the WSOP final to accept his Hall of Fame honor, and I thought Mori Eskandani said that he wasn’t feeling well. Just wondering if he’s doing alright.
Also, did Tom Dwan ever sign with Full Tilt as was rumored?

Why isn’t Jen Harmon playing this season? First one she hasn’t, isn’t it?

Dale, where have you been? I can already tell you, yes, they do have knowledge of this. Anyone who reads Pokerati would!

Are you there again today? Did Phil Ivey make it? Is the lineup, as reported, Peter Eastgate, Doyle Brunson, Ivan Demidov, Phil Ivey, Barry Greenstein, David Benyamine, and Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies?
What was the lineup yesterday?

Lineup for Saturday:
Sam Simon, Daniel Negreanu, Joe Hachem, Patrik Antonius, Antonio Esfandiari, Nick Cassavetes, Phil Laak and Howard Lederer
Dan would know better if other players get switched in later in the day, if that happened.

Dan,
I wanted details of whether Bush would be successful and whether Obama would be able to change it if he was. The word I hear is that people are skeptical of Bush’s chances. And even if he did, new president’s can change any last minute legislative changes in last 60 days.

Oh, dude, OK … yes, Bush has already been successful against us. It’s already been done.
And as to a new president being able to undo them … well, actually, Congress can undo them, but … it’s not looking promising for us. Bush has put through more than 100 of these midnight regulations … and on a scale of importance from 1 to 100, poker ranks about 92.
