The Poker Beat, Episode 2

by , Feb 5, 2009 | 12:55 pm

… is coming up. Be sure to tune in live here. Not exactly sure what’s on the agenda today — I just go wherever Scott Huff tells me to — but I’m pretty sure I’ll be talking about Clonie’s lawsuit, UIGEA developments, and other assorted poker hubbub.

We’ll have the podcast version up here, too, as soon as it’s recorded.

Show starts in 5 minutes.

UPDATE: Podcast ready …

BJ started off with more WSOP tournament discussion, as well as how the Borgata “left” the WPT for their Borgata Winter Open. Dan talks about the UIGEA and Clonie’s lawsuit. Gary Wise talks about Durrr’s huge downswing. Somewhere in there will be talk of Steve Martin’s Letterman appearance on Monday.

To add a note regarding the expedited discovery:

The motion for expedited discovery was not granted. The order simply unsealed the motion. The motion was presented ex parte, meaning that the other side didn’t get to see it. This is a fairly unusual thing, used when the other side is engaging in bad faith. The judge put it out in the open and allowed the other side time to respond and will judge it on the merits later.

Two Poker Beat shows – multiple references to weed. I see a trend! 😉

Honestly, good shows so far. Love it!

Same here Jen, first two shows have been very strong. A huge improvement over the post-Haralabob Big Poker Sundays.

What Kevin said … I hate to get something so wrong. However, I think I’m closer to right.

Regarding the expedited discovery stuff, I’m sure you’re right Dan. I originally had that information about it being approved, then removed when I saw the post on 2+2 about what it really meant.
