GSN’s Youtube account (GSNVideos) put up the first episode of season 5 of High Stakes Poker on Youtube on Friday. For those that don’t want to wait for it to appear on some other site, or watch a crappy stream of someone sticking a webcam in front of the TV, you can watch it here:

Wow, cool. How do they get to do a 43-minute hi-def vid? Is that some sort of paid set-up with YouTube, or can anyone do that?

  2. Kevin Mathers
    says:

I’d think they’d had to pay Youtube to make a video that long, and Youtube had recently done an upgrade to HD?

  3. DanM
    says:

Ah, cool. I like what they’re doing and they’re embracing the sharing instead of fighting it.

I have this sick feeling that Eastgate is going broke this season. He’s playing with guys he has no business playing with. Gonna be a great season by the looks of it!

Yeah, that first $20k bet with nothing was a leak-and-a-half, no?

I think there’s some interesting editing in play, though, as Eastgate didn’t play until the last day. (Sam Simon was long gone by then.)

Here’s Eastgate speaking about playing a little above his head, if not his bankroll:

I believe they’re going with the day 3 taping first as that had the most poker action.

Hmm, when I click to play this video it says ‘This is a private video. If you have been sent this video, make sure you accept the sender’s friend request’.
    Any ideas?

Very interesting. They changed it then … maybe only letting you see it if they at least get some info about you first.

Very related to our discussion we had here:

It says the same when I try to watch the video, “this is a private video, make sure you accept the senders friend request! Any advice fellas?

not sure … it was a change on their end. i get the same results, even though i watched it yesterday. maybe GSN got unhappy about it?

Maybe they meant to put it up for a brief period, then make it public after the season ends?

Clearly whatever happened here, it is all your fault, Kevin. And maybe BJ’s, too.

Well I watched my TIVOed copy of it Monday night. I must say I enjoy some of the new changes. It looked like one extra player at the table since they removed the two cameras that usually took up space. The action was pretty crazy with some of the internet guys wanting to show…something. I guess they had to prove to the old guys they had the balls to pull some big moves.

    I miss poker.
