A dealer at any casino needs to know a few hand gestures in order for the games to run smoothly.  It doesn’t go amiss if the players know them too! Paddy Power casino have published this infographic to give beginners a guide on casino hand gestures:

Craps

A game played with two dice.  A throw of 7 or 11 is a winning throw.  2, 3 or 12 is a losing throw.

One Hand: The dice must be handled and thrown with one hand.

Pass the Dice: It’s completely optional to roll the dice in craps. Just pass the dice to the player on your right.

Hands High: When the dealer calls out “hands high” or “the dice are out!”, all players must lift their hands off the table.

Blackjack

A card game in which players try to acquire cards with a face value totalling 21 and no more.

Hit: To take another card from the dealer, tap the table with your finger.

Stand: If you do not want to receive anymore cards from the dealer, wave your hands horizontally.

Double Down: After receiving the first two cards players can double their initial bet to receive one more card. This is done by placing a new bet directly next to the original bet.

Split: If a player is dealt two of the same rank, they can put up a new bet by placing it next to the original one.

Poker

A game in which a player bets that the value of his or her hand is greater than that of the hands held by others.

Fold: Placing the cards face down informs the dealer and players that you are no longer playing the rest of the round.

Call: When intending to match previous bets made, players should place bets in the middle of the table.

Check: To pass one turn but remain in the game, tap on the table once.

Roulette

A game in which players bet on which compartment of a revolving wheel a small ball will land in.

Not More Bets: To signal that no more bets can be made, the dealer will raise their hand horizontally over the table.

Hand Positioning: Do not place your hands on the table until the dealer has removed all losing bets from the table.

Place Chips: All players should place their chips on the layout of the board. If they are unable to reach, the dealer should place it for them.
