Clonie v Full Tilt – The Saga Continues

Attorneys for Tiltware, the parent company of Full Tilt Poker, filed a motion yesterday to dismiss Clonie Gowen’s case against them for $40 million as an alleged 1% owner of the company. For those interested in reading the motion, it can be read here.

    Just skimmed through the answer. Will be interesting to see if the court throws out her claims against the individual defendants. Can’t imagine she doesn’t have a colorable claim against, at the very least, Tiltware for breach of contract. Not sure it really matters that the individual defendants are parties to the lawsuit. The critical piece with respect to them, in my opinion, will be what deals they have with FT. Clonie can get that in discovery.

    In my opinion, it is going to be very compelling evidence in her favor if, in fact, the other players (Ivey, Lindgren, Block, etc.) have a stake in the company. Say what you will about Clonie (and for the record, I think she handles herself publicly extremely well, especially given some of the douches she has had to deal with, something I have seen firsthand during a tournament), but I think she has been every bit as public (and I would think beneficial) a member of the FT team as the rest of them. I would also imagine she has drawn more attention to the site (and, in turn, players) than many of the other “pros” like, say, Andy Bloch.
