” The gambling room had 14 poker tables, some of them with cards and poker chips.” —
what is this world coming to?… these sinister villains actually had cards and poker chips on some of the tables…. this right here is a prime example of why poker is not legal cause we keep associating ourselves with people that use this kind of paraphernalia.
come on people leave the cards and poker chip at home have some decency.

The funniest line I hear on the news is “they were playing in the basement of this home, where children were present in the home.” No shit? Poker players procreate? How dare they?
Regarding the Palms story, I talked to a Houstonite, and it seems that an older lady, we’ll call her “M”, paid for some insurance on an all-in flopped straight, which covered her if she got suckced out on for whatever hand her opponent had… but on the turn her opponent caught a card which gave him more outs… which negated her insurance… the dealer didn’t stop to ask her for more insurance for the new outs… nor did she stop the dealer… so when the guy caught his runner-runner on the river, she didn’t get paid her insurance.
Well, she had a fit, and said if they didn’t pay her, she was going to stand outside every day and call the police to complain. They didn’t pay her. No one knows if she actually called the police, but people of course assume she did. A day or so later, one of the other operators heard about the situation, and called the Palms crew to tell them to pay her for the good of the Houston games, which they did. Two days later, SWAT comes through the door.
The rumor is that they potentially acted on the complaint she filed before getting her money, which ultimately brought the game down.
Moral of the Story: KEEP YOUR CUSTOMERS HAPPY, EVEN IF IT COSTS YOU MONEY SOMETIMES! The customer is always right.
