RE: Non-Congressional Poker Politicking

In case you are a little confused as to why we are saying not to pass certain governmental regulations relating to the UIGEA now (as opposed to in 2006), below is an email exchange I had with our good friends at the PPA earlier today explaining what is and isn\’t in play.

Ahh, now I get it!

Dan, the UIGEA did pass last October. However, the rules to enforce it have not yet been promulgated. Thusly, there is still an opportunity to delay their implementation while we work for a legislative fix (ie. Wexler or Frank bills). Dozens of comments have already been submitted stating the unworkable nature of Regs and asking that they go back and re-write them. Your letter would be a great addition to this chorus.

Thanks for you help.

In addition, you can fax your comments to Treasury at 202.622.0073. I don’t think that info was included on the url I sent earlier.

John, will get this out today. But am a little confused by what its saying the UIGEA will do. I mean the UIGEA is already in place and what we are trying to undo, right? Or have I been a little off for the past year?
