Happenings at the WSOP while awaiting the inevitable Gary Wise article tomorrow on the Ladies\’ final table:
Two of the three scheduled final tables are currently underway on Tuesday. First, the $1,000 Ladies\’ World Championship is currently down to 7. Chip leader at the start of play, Svetlana Gromenkova, has lost her massive chip lead courtesy of two Debbie Mitchell double- ups. Mitchell is now the current chip leader, while Svetlana has fallen to the bottom of the leaderboard, with a long way to go to get back in the hunt.
The $1,500 NL Shootout is currently down to 8, this table having the benefit of starting play with 1,000,000 in chips each (an increase from the 300,000 as noted on the structure sheet). Blinds did increase accordingly, but there still is plenty of play at this time.
The other final table hasn\’t been set yet, as the $2,000 Omaha 8 event is currently down to 11. Scott Clements, Ted Forrest, Ralph Perry and Jimmy Fricke are still in the field. The surprise so far today has to be the resiliency of Jim Pechac, his 2,000 \”stack\” at the start of play today is now over 100,000.
The $5,000 NL KC Lowball event is now down to their final 28. Tom \”Durrr\” Dwan is current leader, but Mike Matusow, Tom Schneider, Doyle Brunson and other stars are making their move. If you\’ve gone to worldseriesofpoker.com for the other updates, you can easily find the 2-7 updates as well there.
Today\’s first event, the $1,500 PLO started with a field of 759 that has already been whittled down to under 240. The 5:00pm event, $2,000 Limit Holdem, is currently underway and over 400 sat down when play started.
One last update from me later, expect more goodness from Dan and Jen later (crosses fingers)…
