Last week was a relatively tame one in the live stream streets, at least compared to the last few weeks that saw some of the biggest pots and craziest action in a long while.
While we didn’t witness any seven-figure pots, things were far from boring. Hustler Casino Live continued with its regular lineup of games and, as is always the case, there were a few gems in there.
In case you’ve missed the action as it was happening live, we bring you our usual weekly recap of the biggest and most interesting hands of the week.
Dr. P. Really Wants That Bounty
It is no secret that side games can make players a little crazy, but every now and again, things get seriously off the rails.
We had one such situation last Friday when Dr. P., one of the HCL regulars, was on three bounty buttons and going after number four.
Dr. P. was sitting comfortably with just over $90,000 in his stack. Two players in front of him just called for $100, and he decided the best play to secure his fourth button was to just move all-in with A♥7♠.
His $90k shove would usually go through, but Britney, who previously just called $100, actually had pocket nines, and she knew what her opponent was up to. So, when the action folded back to her in the cutoff, Britney made the call for the $70,000 she had in her stack.
This wasn’t the kind of development Dr. P. was hoping for, but his ace still gave him a fair bit of equity, especially since the two agreed to run it twice.
However, poker gods favored Britney in this particular instance as she turned a boat on the first run, and the second run gave Dr. P. a pair of sevens, but he couldn’t improve by the river. So, there was no chopping this time around as Britney scooped a $140k pot.
Britney on the Mission
There is no doubt that Britney was one of the most active players on Friday’s HCL stream, but she wasn’t there just to keep other players honest.
Britney was chasing bounties as well, and in one particular hand we saw her make a super-light call to try and win her third button, which would bring her $1,000 from every player at the table.
With this strange dynamic in play, despite the blinds being $50/$100, Randall opened from UTG to $2,000 holding K♠Q♦. Britney, who was starting the hand with $22,500, made a call on the button with K♠5♠, hoping to see a favorable flop.
Ben spoiled her plans, though, as he woke up with A♥K♦ in the big blind and moved all-in for her effective stack. This got rid of Randall, but Britney was in no folding mood. Instead, just put the chips in the middle, hoping for the best.
Once more, they decided to run it twice for the $47k pot, with the first run counting for the side game. The first board ran 5♥8♣4♣4♠8♥. After a moment of confusion, it was confirmed that Britney’s two pair of 8s and 5s won the first run and the bounty.
With one of Britney’s outs now gone, Ben was optimistic that he’d at least win on the second run, but it wasn’t meant to be, as another five made an appearance on the flop, alongside a pair of jacks. The turn and the river bricked, and Britney’s reckless play paid off in full.
Rampage Firing on All Cylinders
If there is big action happening on a Hustler stream, Rampage is usually a part of it to some extent. It was no different last week, as Ethan went for a big value bet in a tricky river spot.
After some preflop action, Rampage found himself heads-up and out of position against Ben. Rampage held two red jacks in the small blind, and the two saw the flop of A♥6♥2♥.
Ethan fired a small continuation bet of $3,000 into the pot of over $14,000. This wasn’t enough to get rid of Ben, who held K♦Q♥, giving him a draw to the second nuts.
In fact, Ben took an aggressive route and raised Rampage’s bet, making it $8,400. Rampage called, and they proceeded to the turn with $31,200 in the middle.
The turn came the Q♦, putting another overcard to Ethan’s jacks on the board. Rampage slowed down and checked, as did Ben in position.
The river brought the 7♥, giving both players a flush. Rampage took a few moments before announcing all-in for $39,500 effective.
It’s safe to assume Ethan wasn’t thrilled to see his opponent throw in the call within seconds, as that wasn’t a good sign for his jack-high flush. Sure enough, Ben turned over his Q♥, showing the bad news and raking in the $110k pot.
By the end of that crazy session, Rampage was down just over $115,000, Ben ended with a loss of about $25,000, while Britney’s reckless approach paid off this time around as she booked a win to the tune of $71,000.
