If you listen to Jeffrey Pollack’s interviews on WSOP radio or Gary Wise’s show this week, I think you need to move the needle over to the yes side for 2008.

It is my opinion that Mr. Pollack has no choice but to shake up the TV presentation of the 2008 WSOP Main Event radically if the WSOP wants to retain ESPN’s rights fee and Miller Brewing’s sponsorship fee.
The word should be out at the ad agencies on Madison Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard by now: WSOP’s biggest competitor in the U.S. now caters to the 50-and-older crowd with its TV product. One major play-for-free online poker room pulled some of its marketing dollars from that competitor’s TV product this week.
It’ll be interesting to see how ESPN juggles the 32 hours of WSOP programming so that the proposed “plausibly live” WSOP Main Event Final Table can be moved up from mid-November to mid-October.

There were two ways Mr. Pollack could have answered the questions on radio this week: no, or no comment.
Mr. Pollack chose to answer “no comment”.
That’s all you need to know.
