On Sunday night’s Ultimate Poker Show at Rounders Radio, hosts Annie Duke and Mark “PokerH0″ Kroon interviewed their UB teammate Phil Hellmuth on a variety of topics, and took a call that led to his first public statement on the hand that was awarded to him in error.

    “Because it was Phil, it was Ultimate Bet, the 60 Minutes, and all this other BS.”

    I wonder if Phil would be able to say this to the face of some of the people whose lives were ruined by “all this other BS”. The avoidance of the real issue and his hubris is stomach-turning.

    Annie Duke is the only one who sounds like a concerned human being. Kroon sounds like he’s an aspiring UB yes-man … and Hellmuth comes off like a clueless ass who, accurately, doesn’t care about being a clueless ass.

    Annie seems like she’s trying hard to make things right for the fallen company she loves. Phil Hellmuth seems like he only cares about #1 — and anything that ever goes wrong is always somebody else’s fault and woe is him. If he were president of the U.S. he would probably blame Iraq for not having WMB’s after making us invade.

    Just my quick read on the situation.

    Kroon’s been way past the aspiring part for ages (I believe he’s also from Madison, WI.)

    When you say that this has happened to him 100 times before is one of the most clueless statements I’ve heard in quite some time.

    Right. Wouldn’t 100 improper pot shippings be a red flag to someone that the software has a pretty big error in it?

    The casually-made “this has happened 100 times” claim was more than a little odd. (Not to mention incredibly lacking in self-awareness. The usual with PH.)

    Was also curious to hear both Kroon & Duke say this had happened to them on other sites, and Duke referring to it as a consequence of a “bug” that is part of (some? all?) other sites’ software, too.

    Of course, neither Kroon nor Duke sound like they are talking about a “bug” but rather instances when a player left the table & disconnected from the site in the middle of a hand that they subsequently would have won had the player remained put.

    First time poster here…listening to Hellmuth’s comments about the UB flap now.

    Needless to say, the controversy doesn’t do anything to boost UB’s and Hellmuth’s cred. Will be steering clear from UB and Absolute Poker for a long time.

    I don’t believe for one minute that this has happened hundreds of times?!? and what no one else has complained? and if they had wouldn’t this problem have been looked into a long time ago
