Vanessa Rousso’s Chips Will Be on Display in Sports Illustrated

Vanessa Rousso announced on her inaugural PokerStars.tv video blog on January 4th that she will be taking part in a photo shoot for Sports Illustrated. Evidently, the magazine has this little thing called the “Swimsuit Edition” that is popular in some circles.

“It’s my first bikini shoot, so I’m a little traumatized about that,” Vanessa said. “Let’s just hope it goes well.” She noted that she had taken a recent break from poker to maintain a strict diet and workout regimen in preparation for the photo shoot, but she’s back to the poker circuit now and feels refreshed. (I know, blah blah, poker tournaments.)

Personally, I’m not always in favor of female poker players doing the “spread,” but I have to believe that Vanessa will do this with class and bring some major positive attention to poker in the process.

    I’ll take this one wiuth a mixed grain of salt.

    I’m in favor of anything that positively promotes poker, but Vanessa is far from the catalyst poker needs right now. Granted, she is intelligent, but she is a mediocre player at best. I personally don’t find her that attractive, but I can see why others do. My take is that she is the next Evelyn Ng. Good looks with a bit of buzz, but her candle will burn out soon.

    It is a shame that a more bona fide player can’t make a bigger jump into the mainstream.

    Hey Vanessa, (another Vanessa here). I’m doing some research on our name and was wondering if you know any history behind it. Mine was from my great-grandmother, but she’s passed on now so I can’t ask her where it came from. Thanks!
