(Way) Outside the WSOP (Day 11 Evening Update)

In a final table filled with high-stakes players and bracelet winners, Eric Brooks ($0 in tournament cashes) beats Fu Wong ($110,000 in tournament cashes) in the $10,000 7 Card Stud World Championship. Alexander Kostritsyn, who at one point had a 1,000,000 chip lead over his nearest competitor, finished in 3rd. High stakes regulars Minh Ly and David Oppenheim finished in 4th and 8th respectively. 8-time bracelet winner Erik Seidel finishes in 5th.

The Women’s $1,000 NL Holdem event is down to their final 12. Svetlana Gromenkova, seen here in a happy moment, is the overwhelming chip leader. Three more eliminations and they return for their ESPN360 final table.

In the $2,000 Omaha 8 event, they just reached the money, with Men “The Master” Nguyen the unfortunate bubble boy.

The $1,500 NL Shootout finally completed their first round after over 7 hours of play. They’re currently playing to reach their final 10 for tomorrow.

The $5,000 NL 2-7 KC Lowball w/rebuys event drew a field of 85, with 272 rebuys to create a prize pool of over $1,700,000. 14 spots will get paid, Todd Brunson is current chip leader, Shawn Sheikhan is 2nd, and many notables still remain.

More exciting stuff from me tomorrow…

Fu Wong is part of the Arizona Posse. He’s James Wong around these parts, and plays at Casino Arizona. Congratulations James!

I think it’s because Robert and I saw him about and hour before the start of the event on Saturday and wished him luck.

    Well done!
