CoinPoker’s largest online tournament series to date is officially in the books, and it can only be described as a resounding success for the operator and the players alike.
The Global Online Poker Championship (GOPC) came with a big guarantee of $50,000,000 across the board. However, by the time the last hand was dealt on September 28, that promise was exceeded, and by quite a bit.
When it was all said and done, the series paid more than $88,000,000 in prizes, surpassing the original guarantee by over $38,000,000 as CoinPoker players showed up in very strong numbers.
Impressive Numbers Across the Board
The massive prize amount certainly stands out as the most impressive piece of information about the Global Online Poker Championship, but the series exceeded expectations in many other areas, too.
There were over 2.1 million entries recorded across the entire series, which comprised over 6,200 individual tournaments. These entries came from 48,815 unique players.
It took over 18.8 million poker hands to complete all the tournaments and find all the winners. There were many noteworthy days along the way, but the biggest one on the record saw just shy of $7.8 million in prize money paid to the participating players.
There were also several personal records of note. Three players managed to cash every single day of the GOPC (37 days). Their combined cashes amounted to around $82,000.
A player going by the alias ‘Ddango’ managed to turn his $0.55 satellite entry into a second-place finish in the $55 Opening Ceremony event. This effort brought him a very hefty payday of $14,114.
Three Main Events Exceed the Expectations
There were many great tournaments on the GOPC schedule, but the three Main Events certainly stood out. The biggest of the three was actually CoinPoker’s largest event to date at the time, as it was scheduled before the operator announced The One.
The $530 Main Event came with a big $3,000,000 guarantee, and it ended up attracting 7,414 entries to comfortably surpass its original promise. The player ‘siema’ was the last one standing, picking up a massive $423,605.
The $55 Global Main saw an insane turnout of 21,281 entries, with the eventual winner, ‘PenthousePrinz,’ taking home $57,700.
Last but not least, the $11 Global Mini Main Event attracted a field of 26,060 entries. When it was all said and done, ‘Soygeld333’ was the last player standing, and they walked away with a payday of $24,040 – a return of almost 2,200 times on the original buy-in.
It is also worth noting that the operator ran its marquee CoinMillion event every week throughout September (instead of once a month), and the last one that took place on September 28 set a new record, attracting 5,404 entries and paying just shy of $81,000 to the winner.

Earlier this month, CoinPoker announced its biggest tournament to date, naming it The One. The tournament comes with a massive $5,000,000 guarantee, a fairly affordable $250 buy-in, and a slew of satellites to give everyone a shot at big bucks.
The plan is for The One to be a yearly event, and the first one will play out in October. There are going to be a total of 26 Day 1 flights, taking place October 4 – 12. As for the satellites, they are already running on CoinPoker, with step qualifiers starting as low as $0.10.
