The ongoing Global Online Poker Championship (GOPC) has brought thousands of tournament players to CoinPoker. But as often happens during major tournament series, the operator has seen a big spike in cash game action, too.
Things have been particularly hot at high stakes, especially on VIP Arena tables. Over the course of the last week, there was some massive action in $1,000/$2,000 PLO and Hold’em games, featuring some familiar faces and some newcomers.
We’re bringing you a quick overview of some of the biggest moments, showing once more that CoinPoker has established its position as the go-to place for players looking to play nosebleeds.
Seven Figures in the Middle
One of the biggest hands we witnessed took place at a Hold’em table, where ‘BTCDemon’ and Chris ‘Lukabrate’ Nguyen played a pot of $1.1 million.
The action was heads-up, and all the chips got in the middle before the flop, with ‘BTCDemon’ needing quite a bit of help with his A♦Q♥ against Nguyen’s K♠K♣.
The flop brought a queen, which gave ‘BTCDemon’ a couple of extra outs, but with two cards to come, ‘Lukabrate’ was still a significant favorite. The turn blanked, but the river brought another queen to improve ‘BTCDemon’s’ hand to three-of-a-kind and win him a seven-figure pot.
Owen ‘PR0DIGY’ Messere, previous Cash Game World Champion, was spotted at the tables as well, and he got to play some interesting hands against ‘BTCDemon.’
And, talking about familiar faces, Jared Bleznick was in the VIP Arena, too, playing some $200/$400 and $500/$1,000heads-up Pot Limit Omaha.
History Repeats Itself
It is interesting to note that this massive action on CoinPoker comes almost exactly a year after a run of games that saw some of the biggest pots and largest stacks in the history of the site.
Around this time last year, it was none other than Jared Bleznick who amassed a stack of $1,500,000. And he did it playing against the same opponent he took on recently, ‘PencilArms.’
This was a proper throwback moment, which poker commentator Emil described as “two legends at work,” adding ”I remember these games. Sick is probably the only word describing those stakes.“
It is truly insane to see this kind of action back online, reminding us of the good old days. And for most of us, these stakes will remain an unattainable goal.
However, thanks to the latest promotion from CoinPoker, one player will actually get a chance to play in a High Stakes Poker session with a buy-in of $100,000 and face legends like Tom Dwan.
The promotion is open to all players who sign up for a CoinPoker account using PokerGO’s special signup code, and you can find all the details in this article.
Watching high-stakes crushers go at it is fun, but not nearly as fun as sitting down with a six-figure buy-in and doing it yourself. So, if you’d like to go from an observer to the one being observed, this is your opportunity.
