Ring in the New Year/Era!

Circuit Gangstas: La n DC celebrate their latest victory in LA by throwing gang signs.

La Sengphet took down another one on the WSOP-circuit — winning a $345 NLH at the Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens, Calif. for her fourth WSOP-C victory (third in a ring-bearing event) and a $25k payday. Her other half, David Clark, made a final table the day before, and won his second ring just a couple stops earlier at WSOP-Tahoe. Their story is becoming sickeningly charming … perhaps even inspirational … showing that true love and poker success can go hand-in-hand for a couple of old-fashioned rounders making their way across an ever-unpredictable poker landscape.

Perspective from Barry Greenstein

by , Dec 13, 2010 | 12:59 am

This should be a big week, whether its days of explosion or fizzle. Some might contend poker has already changed just having gotten to where we are today — with US Senators actively engaged in decisions immediately affecting the way people play online poker in this country.

Though a bit more cynical than Howard Lederer’s take on the political game, Barry Greenstein offers his interesting take on how Washington DC works here … bits from an episode of Live at the Bike recorded on November 29, 2006 — shortly after George Bush signed the UIGEA into law:

Gotta wonder how Greenstein’s perspective may have changed in the past four years, as he has been at least peripherally involved in poker policy ever since he made a declaration in 2007 that we were six months away from legally mainstreamed online poker.

Flashback to Live Poker in L.A.

by , May 17, 2008 | 8:02 am

When poker was super hot – like the weather in L.A. this weekend – players couldn’t get enough of it. It wasn’t enough to watch the plethora of poker TV shows and listen to podcasts; poker fans wanted to see the real deal. And Live at the Bike gave it to them with live webcasts of cash games from the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles.

Live at the Bike ran from early 2005 to the spring of 2007, and for fans of the shows, they are archived and available at a site called Poker Netcast. The site not only offers those webcasts but quite of bit of other instructional tools, some of which are still in the works. Though there is a small monthly fee to access all of the videos, players and poker fans can log on to get a preview of the site and see what it has to offer.
