Aloha Poker

Certain serendipities seem to guide so many of us …

I just got a call from a myspace friend who is ready to ditch the Dallas poker scene and relocate to Hawaii. So she wanted to know if I knew of any games there. While flattered by the inference that I would be connected to a criminal enterprise in the middle of the Pacific ocean, I did not … however, just two days ago I played with a guy in a $200 Binion’s tournament who was from Hawaii — think Fubu with a really good tan and semi-Asian eyes — and he talked for at least an orbit about the underground games on Oahu and Molokai. So I know they exist, but that’s about it. Considering that he busted out early in level two — dude, do you really wanna get it all-in with top-pair-top-kicker, even if you are ahead? — I gotta think the games in the 50th United State might be decent. Does anyone know firsthand?

NOTE: Apparently when you suck out on someone to send them home, you should be saying “Aloha,” not “Mahalo.” Who knew!?!

UPDATE: Here’s probably a good place for non-police howlies to begin finding their way into the Hawaiian underground. For some reason I think they might know someone who knows someone …

11th Place … out of about 30. Four got paid. Played brilliantly until one of the people I played brilliantly against got upset and put me on tilt, at which point I didn’t play bad(ly) … but i didn’t run-good neither.

u say hawaii might be juice?? just got back from sweden… wow, a fish fest… played 3-3 pot limit(never played pot live, and no nl game there at that time of day) took these guys for 1500 in about 2 or 3 hours(all the time i had… dammit)… they had no moves… loose as hell, calling station all 9 of them..and they would get so confused when i put a play or move on them… i also found myself playing at full tilt there(different time zone, most all online at that hour were non u.s.a. players…. also had strong results in the sng’s… is this normal, anyone else have good times playing across the pond?? just would like to know if this is normal, my wife is from there, and with the feeling i was getting i wonder if we should get an appt. over there for a few months a year… just wondering???

yes, i would contend coming back from a micro-stack … then taking a bad beat … then rebuilding the microstack again … it was some of the best play i was capable of, that’s for sure … and presumably in the interest of the four people who had 10 percent of my action to see. do you disagree?

harrington wrote a whole chapter on this, you know. but i still am afraid to tell you about the hands where i may not have had any real cards, but i did still have some fold equity, which i played, er … brilliantly.

HEY, I WANT A SHIRT TOO! DO I NEED A LITTLE MORE SUN? MAYBE IF I SQUINTED I WOULD HAVE SEMI-ASAIN EYES TOO.

Have added a link to the pic of the shirt itself. Have at it, Fubu! Approximately 14 million caterpillars are willing to give up their lives for the sake of keeping you not naked outfitted in style!
