Lacey Jones: Sure, I’d Get Naked for Playboy

by , Oct 14, 2009 | 4:36 pm

That’s not really the point of this video, but hey, when Lacey Jones talks for 15 seconds about the business of getting naked, people listen.*

The Absolute Poker/Zizzazz girl’s latest spokesmodel gig is with Ksino.com (a gambling-themed clothing line by the people who helped set standards for douchebag- club-culture fashion with Caffeine).

The vid gives a little behind-the-scenes peek at her signing the deal, and then follows her as she hits the streets of Manhattan, where she runs across at least one New York City underground player who offers a glimpse of how the games work there. She also explains how above-ground casinos handle the shark-whale relationship, and eventually starts dressing dudes she meets on the streets … which is kinda like undressing them, but not quite. Special appearance by Spongebob Squarepants.

2 Months, $2 Million Preview

by , Jul 27, 2009 | 2:01 pm

Mark my words, or at least check back in about 15 years … G4 is the next coming of MTV. And the Gen-Y and younger TV station (focussed mostly on the video-game geek culture, and re-runs of Tron) has a new poker show debuting in mid-August — 2M2MM:

Featuring Ansky and some other young online pros, in the show’s words:

Premieres Sunday, August 16 at 9pm on G4. This summer, geeks are wild as G4 takes viewers inside the world of competitive high stakes online poker in a new series that follows four young high IQ friends who join forces and set up shop in Las Vegas. Their challenge for themselves? To collectively earn $2 million dollars in only two months using their own money.

With this show, Face the Ace (on NBC), and even Sam’s Game (on Playboy.TV) … and all of them looking at least semi-good, frankly … anyone get the sense that the future of poker on TV continues to evolve? Mix in live coverage like you have with the Washington State Poker Championship below … and really, you gotta wonder what ESPN, the WSOP, and High Stakes Poker are going to have to deliver to keep up with (or ignore) the theoretically non-crappy televised poker we can expect in coming seasons.

Though admittedly, 2M2MM may well be a semi-successful one-hit reality wonder, while Face the Ace could go the way of Win, Lose or Draw … and Sam’s Game may end up in the archives somewhere next to Naughty Nurses Go To Europe #9.

We’ll see … or not. That’s kinda the question.

Sam’s Game: 4-Color TV Poker

by , May 19, 2009 | 7:42 pm

Remember the good old days, when poker was in its boom period and the poker community was treated to shows such as Celebrity Poker Showdown, Hollywood Hold ‘Em, Hip-Hop Holdem, WPT’s Hollywood Home Game, etc. etc.? Celebrities playing poker makes its “comeback” with Sam’s Game — a new show on the digital channel that is also home to The Boy Nexxt Door, e-Rotic, and Show Us Your Wits.

The show features Simpson’s co-creator Sam Simon, along with comedians Artie Lange, Dave Attell, Norm McDonald and Jeffrey Ross. Also featured are Playboy personalities Brande Roderick, Deanna Brooks, Andrea Lowell, and Stacy Fuson; along with poker personalities as Phil Laak, Sam’s ex-wife Jennifer Tilly, and Jennifer “Jennicide” Leigh. The “action” takes place in Hugh Hefner’s villa at the Palms in Las Vegas, and Playboy TV has put up a few clips on Youtube as a preview for the shows debut June 11th. Above is the longest clip, featuring Artie and Norm in a big hand. The one thing that stands out right away is that I believe this is the first poker program to ever use a 4-color deck in the graphics.

Note: The Internet Can Bite You on the Backend

by , Feb 19, 2009 | 3:25 pm

Remember that David Williams porn thing? Yeah, we don’t either … but I guess lesson learned via the Internet, that things you may or may not do don’t exactly ever go away in the digital age.

Wicked Chops reported just the other day on the good-for-poker fun-ness of David Williams’ kissing Aubrey O’Day, an ousted Dannity Kane band member and Playboy’s March cover girl. But that budding romance is now over, despite O’Day’s love of poker, and she explained why on Junkies Radio:

The Junkies talking poker with Aubrey O’Day

[audio:http://podcast.wjfk.com/wjfk2/1595894.mp3]

Apparently she was tipped off to his post-Magic-pre-poker past by friends and watched a Not-Safe-for-YouTube video with her parents. But instead of being inspired by the sociological relevance of a film exploring issues of race, romance, and inter-generational for-profit love, she seemed irreparably disturbed by Williams apparent fascination with feet.

Gossiper-in-Chief Perez Hilton even has something to say about it. And, of course, the poker (m)asses are yammering on 2+2.

Poker 4 Sale

And Some Services Wanted

by , May 9, 2008 | 2:19 am

I like to troll Craigslist every so often for some hot, anonymous NSA poker action. Not looking for games — there’s no shortage of ’em here in LV — just wanting to take the pulse of what people are pushing related to poker. Look at the ads all together and you get some interesting tells on the state of the poker world and its semi-anonymous inhabitants:

There are a lot of chips , tables, fancy custom tables and chips and tables for sale, of course, and for $15 a made-for-TV WPT video game. WSOP: Tournament of Champions for the Playstation goes for $8

For $150k you can have documentary footage of the rise and fall of Jamie Gold.

A WSOP baby’s blanket.

More chips, from the Aladdin, and from the Atlantic City Playboy Club. “Omaha Table” from Sante Fe Station.

Perhaps frighteningly, there are even poker bots for sale. At least one suspicious reader is questioning whether or not this is legal.

Re: Jennicide to Appear in Playboy

by , Feb 8, 2008 | 9:06 pm

Here’s word directly from Jennifer Leigh herself, about her choice (my emph) to share her naked tatas natural beauty with the non-poker world …

She’ll be in the May issue, according to her interview for (mostly) non-poker women — SHEKNOWS: Confessions of a Poker Princess — where she not only gives the girl-next-door details about her pictorial for (mostly) non-poker men, but also reveals her crossover potential in World of Warcraft, which I suspect will make a lot of more-than-poker gamer-types out there theoretically really happy.

Jennicide to Appear in Playboy

The rumor has persisted for more than a year, and it seems to be true.

JennicideJennifer “Jennicide” Leigh will appear in the May 2008 issue of Playboy Magazine. It is unclear if she will be on the cover as Wicked Chops suggests, or simply featured in a 6-page editorial spread as Bluff Magazine reports.

Whether or not she’s still a poker player can be debated, and what this nude gig will do for her career life remains to be seen. But what is for sure is that every man in poker will know what her hole cards are.

(For those unfamiliar with Playboy Magazine, it’s a men’s publication that demonstrates true journalistic integrity and features some of the world’s most prominent and influential people.)
