Poker bust last night at the Slick Billiards at 2344 Oates Dr.
I don\’t know the details of this game — it was clearly more drunken low-stakes \”home game\” than sophisticated poker operation. Police arrested one person for Gambling Promotion (class A misdemeanor) and issued tickets to 11 others for Gambling (class C misdemeanor).
They also arrested three people for Public Intoxication. Cops confiscated one table, assorted \”gambling paraphernalia,\” and $1,437 in cash. It took an undercover operation (in response to a citizen complaint, police say) to take this game down.
Pokerati would also like to take this opportunity to remind all our pokery attorney friends that we happily accept advertising from law firms interested in representing players. It\’s a great deal — should cost you less than a few billable hours — and it seems there may be a growing need for your services.
Guess the people in that part of town haven’t go the idea that the po-po is cracking down in that area.
Such a shame that vice would be wasting thier time on the poker vice when there are so many other going on in that part of town.
It’s a case of misdrection, look what we did over here. when the dope dealers and really dangerous people spend less time in jail than the people who run the games if they get caught that is , oh,and have a good bail boundsman. I support the police they do a great job for the most part. It’s a dangerous job and they don’t get paid enough to do it. But I’d like to see a poll of police officers on how important they feel a poker room bust is in the big picture. Come on Dan do a poll, throw this old dog a bone.
Great idea, Irish Mike. However, technological problem … because though we know we have a few DPD readers out there, there would be no way to limit the poll just to them, so the results would most certainly be skewed.
But you are right … it is time for a new poll. I will see if I can come up with anything genius tonight.
just curious did they take the tables and chips?
I’m pretty sure that is the “gambling paraphernalia” mentioned.
