A Little (Vegas) Help?
by Dan Michalski, Nov 9, 2007 | 11:41 am
Don’t ask me why, but I am looking for some assistance …
I need to know some of the coolest, neatist, must-do kinda shee-ot going down in Las Vegas right now. Or next month. Can anyone tell me?
I’m trying to figure out if you were a local, where would you direct your friends visiting from out of town? Specifically if your friends were about 25 years old and male, with good enough jobs that they could afford to blow a festive wad off the tables — whether it be at a restaurant, bar, or low-rider convention.
Thanks in advance for your help. Links, of course, appreciated.

Okay, besides LAX and Blush, there is one more club that just opened within the past month. It’s called Poetry – mostly hip-hop music – located in the Forum Shops in Caesars. Here’s a link: http://www.vegas.com/nightclubs/opm/.
Are you really challenging the hipness of Pokerati readers? 😉

I love VooDoo lounge at the Rio, First because I work at the RIO, and second its the best view of Las Vegas, and the waitresses are hot! But if your looking for a tag team Palms always have hot hookers for 50 bucks!
And if you go on Myspace, you can get VIP from those guys that promote TAO.

KA=kick ass … funny.
Thanks much for the wide spectrum of answers.
So the UFC thing is particularly interesting to me. So anyone know where will these guys be going for their pre-game prep, and their afterparty?

Don’t forget the buffet at the Golden Nugget. Sweet!

I agree that the Voodoo lounge has the best view of Vegas, better than the ghost bar at the Palms. I haven’t heard much about LAX or blush but Tryst at the Wynn was a lot of fun and Treasure Island has a nice outdoor bar that’s right over Las Vegas BLVD. If you want to get a good dinner you can always go see Troy at Del Frisco’s or try Mix at the top of ‘The Hotel’ at Mandalay Bay. In their bathrooms your looking over the strip while you go, worth the price of admission right there if you ask me. Besides that you’ve got Body English at the Hard Rock, Studio 54 at MGM, Pussy Cat Lounge at Ceaser’s, Coyote Ugly at New York New York, and then there is always the limo ride to the Bunny Ranch!

All good stuff. Much appreciated. But how ’bout something that isn’t in the tourist guides — perhaps something that is only going on for a short time. Or perhaps a special event coming up at one of the above-mentioned cool-hip joints?

Here’s a link to upcoming boxing events in LV:
http://www.boxinginlasvegas.com/upcomingevents.html
I think a google search for any one of those events will bring up some pre-parties and after-parties surrounding each event.

Dan, you are fast earning a reputation as the Tom Sawyer of poker blogging. Gee. Whitewashing that fence sure looks fun. While y’all are at it, if anyone wants to come up with a 600 word article about third quarter casino earnings (don’t forget my name on the byline), it would sure be swell:)
There are some days that I wish you weren’t such an easy target Dan. Buy most days I’m just glad that you’re out there for my entertainment pleasure.

You might check to see if the OJ trials are still going on.

Amy … hey, who says this is for a story? Besides, I’ve always kinda thought our roles as journalist (pseudo- or otherwise) are simply to educate ourselves publicly.
As to your pleasure … You know I am always available for you. I am a giver that way.

Evidently, Koi just opened at Planet Hollywood. Koi is a very high-end restaurant. There’s one here in L.A. – it’s where all the stars go to be seen. I imagine the Vegas one will be the same.

If they still have it…stay away from the All Nude Review at the Rio. My first experience in LV was screwed up a bit when my dad took me to see this. Took about 15 min before i leaned over and said “THOSE ARE ALL GUYS!”
(not that there is anything wrong with that)

There is always the standby PURE at Caesars. The “talent” level there last Friday was outstanding… and… when the cost of the Grey Goose bottles start taking too much out of your bankroll you can just tell your friends you have to use the restroom, go out of the club to the right heading for said bathrooms and walk directly into the poker room for a couple quick rounds to have enough cash for the tip!!
And.. anyone coming out could, as said by 85nutz, have a great dinner at Del Frisco’s. Just ask for me, Troy, and I guarantee you… with money as no problem, have one of the BEST dining experiences around (and the talent level in our restaurant is not too shabby either!!!!)

Tbonezz111, I will probably take you up on that. Mmm, Texas-y steak.
Ed, I’m not sure what to say about your father taking you to a naked-man fest. But
you are clearly really screwed upno wonder you are our loyalist reader.Ed says:

Dan, you only know part of it all. I got enough stories I could prob right a pretty interesting book. People just think I am screwed up. It could have been so much worse if I did not have such a
hugesolid head on my shoulders.DanM says:

Most of the dance clubs play hip-hop… I’m all over it. Whoever is getting bottle service at 40/40, call me! 🙂
