For Only a Buck…

You, too, can own a piece of the World Poker Tour. Maybe by tomorrow, shares will be on sale at the 99 Cent Store.
The stock price for WPT Enterprises, Inc. (WPTE on NASDAQ) hit $1.00. I’m not kidding.
While some people are buying it up in the hopes that someone will throw Lipscomb a life raft, word is that the WPTE employees are handing out resumes faster than players can buy in to a $1500 NLHE event at the WSOP. Even so, the World Poker Tour is still planning to hit Vegas for the Bellagio Cup in a few weeks to film the first episode of Season VII. Could be an interesting vibe over there!

Jen, over at Raging Bull http://ragingbull.quote.com/mboard/search.cgi?for=wpte&where=symbol They were talking about selling the stock when it peaked in Jun/Jul 05 at $22 and insiders were dumping the stock. Stock’s going to zero, too bad you can’t short it or buy puts on it.

Considering the inverse relationship the WPT’s stock price has had to gas prices, I think we can safely conclude that oil is more important than televised poker.

I will believe that WPT will film the Bellagio Cup when I actually see the ENG video crew and the stage crew step foot inside the Bellagio on July 15.
I can’t see WPTE burning through its cash on a TV taping without a firm TV agreement, time buy or otherwise.
