Harrah’s Raising the Rake

From $4 to $5 in most rooms and games. Don’t know the exact casino-by-casino and hand-by-hand breakdowns of what the house takes, but the Rio and Caesar’s Palace both recently put the $1 uppage into play earlier this month.

I wonder if the lack of comments on this post indicates that people don’t really care about the rake going up? Also I would like to make a correction, as of now only Ceasers has gone up to the $5 rake, the Rio is still at $4 and currently has a promotion from 3am-3pm which includes a $3 max rake, three $100 drawings, three weekly $3000 freerolls, and a progressive bad beat jackpot.
A little insider info about the rake uppage. Most Harrah’s properties were already at a $5 rake, those being Flamingo, Bally’s and the now defunct Paris poker room. These rooms are largly tourist rooms and those players could care less, an extra dollar isn’t going to affect their enjoyment of the game or ability to lose their money any faster. Rumor has it that MGM rooms are soon to go up to $5 rake as well, even if every casino in Vegas moved up to the $5 rake it would be better than every indian casino or california cardroom. Your best bet at beating the rake is to play online and sign up for rakeback.

Ceasers did go up to the $5 rake already but as far as I know we arn’t, I think we are waiting to see how it affects Ceasers first.

Looks like your info was correct, just a litte premature, don’t worry I hear that’s common with men your age. As of Jan 1, the Rio is at a $5 rake, didn’t seem to affect business today though. When I left at 7:00pm we had three tournament tables, four 1-3 NL games, three 3-6 limit games, and a 2-5 NL, busyest day I’ve seen since the series.

Awesome. That means in the future I will go solely on my premonitions.
Thanks for the detailed updates, Harris. I still think you might be right that no one cares … if that’s true, then it’s only a matter of time before they start raking green chips like big 5/10 games in Dallas did once they knew it was only a matter of time before they got raided.
