2008 Pokerati Bowling Series (PBS) Has Begun

by , May 27, 2008 | 2:57 pm

With Pokerati contributors descending upon Vegas for the 2008 WSOP, it only makes sense that hijinks ensue. Thus, we present the 2008 PBS – Pokerati Bowling Series.

The inaugural and somewhat impromptu and unofficial match-up took place last night at the Gold Coast bowling alley. What started off as a friendly game morphed into a bet on the second and last game of the evening; loser between Dan and I pays for the next match-up. One unnamed part of the duo was so sure that he was bowling a superb game that the final score was that much more special. Final score: Jen 128, Dan 127.

Short-Stacked Shamus was on hand, and for not having bowled in quite some time, he showed he’s got game. Whether his WSOP schedule will permit regular bowling outings remains to be seen…

The 2008 PBS still has to work out the terms of the series, as little details like stakes and list of participants has yet to be determined. Minor snag.

Side note: Drinks at the Gold Coast bowling alley bar are cheap! Two bottles of beer and a mixed drink were $9.50, and the bar was spacious with wallpaper that looked eerily like the new Pokerati site’s wallpaper. And it’s just across the street from the Rio. Enough said.

Jen, congrats on going 1-0 on WSOProp Bets … but I thought we were going to call bowling the Pokerati Fitness Club.

  2. California Jen

Oh yeah… Forgot about that name. It just doesn’t let people know that bowling is involved. The public may actually think that we’re exercising or something. Yikes!

  3. Dan M

I broke a sweat. So did Shamus, I think.

  4. 85nutz

I so want in on some of that PBS action!!

Didn’t realize you were a bowler … so wow, I see a lot of Gold Coast in the future.

Now if only there were more steel-tip dart boards in this town … we’d have my brand of athletics totally covered.

<-- still on tilt for needing 7 pins in the 10th only to get 6.

Do I see the begining of a little “mini-triathalon-for-poker playing-drinking-athletes” being evolved?? I am in on the first two events… we should include maybe a little pool, shuffle board… Hmmmm… Prop bet city baby!!

  7. California Jen

    Let the prop bets begin!

I’m in for shuffle board and possibly pool. If we play darts, I am not responsible for any injuries that result from my lack of dart throwing-abilities.

  8. DanM

shuffleboard definitely … not pool. That’s too hardcore for me.

    We also can’t forget lime-tossing.

It is SOOOO on – Ryan and I are staying at the Gold Coast and I am ready to CRUSH, er, take on all comers in Bowling and Darts. Bring it on Beyotch’s!!!

  10. California Jen

Gentlemen… so cocky and confident… BRING IT!

  11. SitNGoSteve

It’s hard not to be with my mad skillZ… and yourself excluded, the rest of the crew isn’t exactly “intimidating” with their manly selfs.

If you are serious about the darts, SnG, let’s talk money … forget dress-wearing prop bets! But FYI … I am left-handed.

  13. tbonezz111

I am in on the cash… sans about 5 large siera gold beers, your game is over!

  14. SitNGoSteve

Left-handed, right-handed – doesn’t matter to me. After I crush you right-handed, I will feebly lose to you playing left-handed. I have beaten a good player playing left-handed, but he was drunk. Now, if I could get Dan drinky…

I recently discovered this product and began to dream about bringing a real dart game with you wherever you go:

  16. 85nutz

That might not be such a good idea, I can see prop-bet losers standing behind the dartboard with their eyes closed. Can we work golf into the events? Even if it’s disc golf.

I just now looked at the picture of the scores – 30 frames and only 2 strikes????
